Saturday’s craft show has been scrapped, but other private events this weekend will go on at the Ancaster Fairgrounds — at least for now — despite novel coronavirus concerns.
Tammy Quinn, secretary-treasurer and manager of the Ancaster Agricultural Society, said on Friday this Saturday’s Ancaster Spring Craft Show had been cancelled by the organizer, but five other private events planned for the weekend are still a go.
Quinn couldn't say for sure whether the private events might exceed 250 attendees, but noted the event organizers were already performing set-up duties around 1:30 p.m. on Friday.

Meanwhile, the organizer of the Ancaster Spring Craft Show confirmed to the Ancaster News earlier on Friday that Saturday’s show won’t be taking place due to coronavirus concerns.
On March 12, the province made the unprecedented move of extending March break for two weeks to help stop the spread of COVID-19.
The City of Hamilton announced Friday afternoon its Emergency Operations Centre is now fully-activated at Level II, in an effort to mitigate the spread of the COVID-19 virus.
City-run program and event cancellations

While city facilities are not closing, all city-run programs and events up to April 5 are canceled. At the current time, Hamilton is not accepting new group bookings for private events in city facilities.
"It is recommended that customers with current bookings review whether they want to proceed with their event based on the current COVID-19 situation," the city states in a news release.
The public is advised to assume that all city-run programming and events have been cancelled, even if they are not listed on the city’s website. Updated information is available at www.hamilton.ca/coronavirus and on Twitter @cityofhamilton.
The city's Public Health Services advises event organizers that in an effort to limit the spread of COVID-19, it is recommended that all large events and public gatherings of over 250 people be postponed or cancelled until further notice.
