After more than three decades of making audiences laugh together, Eugene Levy and Catherine O’Hara are being honoured as a team for their “unflagging dedication in bringing international acclaim to Canadian talent” with the Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television’s Legacy Award.

Besides beloved 1980s TV series SCTV, Levy and O’Hara shared the screen in four mockumentaries co-written by Levy and Christopher Guest: Waiting for Guffman, Best in Show, A Mighty Wind and For Your Consideration. They currently co-star in CBC comedy Schitt’s Creek.

“With decades of brilliant work behind them and many more to come, Eugene Levy and Catherine O’Hara stand among the world’s finest comic actors,” academy chair Martin Katz said in a statement. “Though they are not an official duo, they have played together so often and so well that we thought it only fitting to honour them together.”

The awards will be presented at the annual Oscar run-up celebration of Canuck film, TV and digital media in Los Angeles, to be held Feb. 25.
