We love the holidays! The cheer, the joy, the festive spirit. However, it can be overwhelming, not to mention costly. So don’t feel blue that the holidays are over – there are plenty of reasons to be glad.
1. The overeating can stop.
Huge meals, cookies, chocolates, treats of all sorts are all part of the holiday season. But your body needs a break from all this indulging. New Year’s resolutions aside, January is the perfect time to eat healthier and smaller portions.
2. Your favourite TV shows are back from hiatus
Holiday specials are wonderful, but you’re eager to find out what’s happening to the characters on your favourite network shows. January means TV shows are back to their regular schedule. If you don’t subscribe to TV, you will have less parties and gatherings to attend, so you can binge watch a show on Netflix guilt-free.
3. The Christmas music finally stops
The novelty of holiday music has worn off, and you’ve heard every possible version of Jingle Bells by now, so it’s great that the end of the holiday season means that retailers and restaurants switch back to their regular adult contemporary playlists.
4. Give your bank account a break
After buying gifts, food, drinks, décor and all the accoutrements of the holiday season, you’ve got credit card bills to look forward to and a bank account in much need of replenishing. Lucky for you, you can go back to your regular household expenses now that the holidays have ended.
5. Everything is on sale!

Santa didn’t give you everything on your list? No worries, it’s likely on sale now that the holidays have ended. Not only are there great sales, there are also fewer crowds. Shop without lineups and hassles. It’s a great time to use those gift cards you received!
6. You can finally get a parking space!
As winter sets in, the less time you want to spend crossing the slush-filled parking lot, in the wind and snow to get to the store. Now that the holidays are over, finding a plumb parking spot will be easy.
7. Enjoy some much needed quiet time
During the holidays your weekends we’re likely filled with dinner parties, gatherings, lunches, shopping, cooking, and cleaning! Now that your home is more or less back to normal, time to make a cup of tea, grab a good book, and enjoy some quiet time alone.
