Dare I say well educated Canadians, purportedly so, are culprits in misuse of the English language. How about hearing very important people say "There is lots of..." It seems like no one uses the plural verb form "are" here in Canada. Is it acceptable to use the singular verb form "is" to introduce plural nouns and pronouns?
