All-female Ghostbusters cast ready for reboot

Bridesmaids director Paul Feig, who has signed on for Ghostbusters reboot, tweet photo of Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnon

This time around, you’re gonna call a woman.

Bridesmaids director Paul Feig, who has signed on for the Ghostbusters reboot, tweeted a photo Tuesday showing Bridesmaids writer and star Kristen Wiig, actress (and Bridesmaids’ scene stealer) Melissa McCarthy, and Saturday Night Live cast members Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnon.

One of the original ghostbusters, Bill Murray, told the Toronto Star’s Peter Howell during the Toronto International Film Festival last fall that he was all in favour of an all-female cast. In fact, Wiig and McCarthy were among the women he said he’d like to see in the new film.

McCarthy, who starred with Murray in Saint Vincent, told the Star at the time that she hadn’t been approached yet but was all for it.

“I think that somebody is really trying to do it, but nobody has talked to me about it,” she said. “Listen, if the people I think are doing it are doing it, I must never question them.”
