How to trick your kids into early bedtime on NYE — with a little help from Netflix

DreamWorks' King Julien is hosting a countdown that families can use whenever they choose

Celebrating New Year’s, but want to shake off the kids?

If you support those 34 per cent of U.S. parents who admitted to starting New Year’s celebrations early to fool their kids into thinking it was midnight, you’re going to appreciate this 3-minute clip from Netflix.

King Julien of DreamWorks’ TV series All Hail King Julien — and a spinoff of the character from the Madagascar movies — will host a countdown that families can use whenever they choose.

“I was totally bummed when I heard that some of my favourite little party people aren’t allowed to stay up until midnight for the biggest party of the year,” said King Julien, King of the Lemurs in a Netflix media release.

“But then I realized I’m king, I make the rules! So move over, Ryan Seacrest, I’ve got my very own on-demand countdown party on Netflix. That means the New Year’s Eve party is always on — just how it should be! What better way to ring in Julien-uary?””

The countdown is available in Canada at
