The Portland Trail Blazers had a bit of fun with the Toronto Raptors highly successful We the North campaign Tuesday.
Prior to their overtime win over the Raptors, the Trail Blazers tweeted, “Hey @Raptors fans, let’s be friends. Technically #WeTheNorthToo” alongside a map comparing the latitudes of Portland and Toronto.
At 45.5 degrees north, Portland is a tiny bit further north than Toronto (43.7).
The Minnesota Timberwolves’ Twitter account then jumped in with, “oh, so you’re just going to forget about us…” Minneapolis is 45 degrees north.
The Trail Blazers followed up with the hashtag #WetheNorthwest and then had the ultimate last laugh, as their team won 102-97 in OT over Toronto.
The Blazers’ Twitter account did acknowledge the big number of Raptors fans in Portland, as Toronto fans continue to make their presence felt on the road. Chants of Let’s Go, Raptors could be heard as the game went on.
