A crucial event to watch Friday at the Pan Am Games:

What: Men’s light welterweight boxing

Where: Oshawa

When: 7:35 p.m.

Who: Arthur Biyarslanov

Why: The Chechen-born Canadian tries to finish off a storybook tournament in the gold-medal bout against Yasnier Toledo of Cuba.

The 20-year-old, who made the storied Atlas Boxing Club his home for the two weeks leading up to the Pan Am Games, is in tough, though.

Toledo won a bronze medal at the 2012 London Olympics and is a two-time world championship silver medallist.

“He’s just a human being just like I am,” Biyarslanov said. “I’m not scared of any human being, the only person I’m scared of is God. I don’t care who it is. I’m going in there and show him who The Chechen Wolf is.”
