A male driver was seriously injured after a set of wheels flew off a transport truck and struck the windshield of his SUV on Hwy. 400 Wednesday morning.
Ontario Provincial Police Sgt. Kerry Schmidt said the SUV was northbound on Hwy. 400 just north of King Rd. when a set of tires came off a southbound transport truck and crashed into its windshield.
Schmidt described the SUV driver’s injuries as life-threatening. He was airlifted to a Toronto trauma centre.
Hwy. 400 is closed both ways between Aurora and King Rds. as an OPP reconstruction team investigates.
