The Progressive Conservatives’ Patrick Brown may be the leader of the opposition at Queen’s Park, but in India he is treated like the leader of a government.

Brown took four fellow caucus members with him on his 16th trip to India and dazzled them by securing a meeting with his longtime friend and supporter Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, among other senior officials.

“It was a great opportunity to catch up with my good friend and ‘brother’ Narendra Modi and highlight the multitude of trade opportunities between our two countries,” Brown said in a statement from New Delhi.

“There are more than one billion consumers in India; Ontario needs to access that market,” he said.

The PC chief treated his colleagues to an elephant ride, but the elephant in the room may be that Premier Kathleen Wynne is travelling to India this month.
