The Windsor Police Drug Enforcement Unit (DIGS) arrested 8 people Wednesday on drug and firearms charges.
At approximately 8 pm April 1, members of DIGS, assisted by members of the Emergency Services Unit, executed a search warrant at a Wyandotte Street East apartment.
Officers arrested four people who were inside the apartment, and allegedly recovered 3.3 grams of cannabis marihuana ($33.00). .4 grams of crack cocaine ($40.00), 1 Percocet tablet ($5.00), and 1/2 of a Morphine tablet.
The suspects located inside the apartment were all released on a promise to appear.
A 48-year-old Windsor man is charged with Possession of Crack Cocaine and Possession of Cannabis Marihuana.
A 41-year-old Windsor man is charged with Possession of Crack Cocaine and Possession of Oxycodone. (Percocet)
A 52-year-old Windsor man is charged with Possession of Crack Cocaine.
A 30-year-old Windsor Woman is charged with Possession of Crack Cocaine.
At approximately 8:10 pm, a taxi transporting four males pulled out front of the apartment unit. Upon observing police, one of the males, and 18-year-old, fled on foot. During the foot pursuit, the suspect allegedly threw a black handgun in the 700 block of Tuscarora Avenue. The suspect was apprehended and placed under arrest, and the handgun, which was determined to be a loaded 9mm Springfield Armouries XD, was recovered by police.
Police also observed a loaded .357 Magnum Revolver on the ground by the passenger door of the cab. The three remaining males from the cab were placed under arrest for unlawful possession of a firearm.
The suspects from the cab face the following charges:
Kenyon Ohamu, 18, from Windsor, is charged with two counts of Possession of a Firearm no Licence, and two counts of Fail to Comply with a Recognizance.
Gevanne Miles, 20, from Windsor, is charged with twp counts of Possession of a Firearm no Licence, Failing to Comply with a Recognizance, and Fail to Comply with an Undertaking.
Hussein Khalfan, 21, from Windsor, is charged with two counts of Possession of a Firearm no Licence.
Jordane Mootoosamy, 22, from Bolton Ontario, is charged with two counts of Possession of a Firearm no Licence and Possession of Cannabis Marihuana.
The matter is still under investigation and additional firearms charges are pending.
The charges have not been proven in court.
