Two arrested after missing Halifax woman’s car found in Essex County

Essex County OPP have arrested a man and a woman after discovering the car of a missing Halifax woman in Harrow Tuesday night.

Loretta Saunders, 26, was reported missing by her family on February 17. She was last seen February 13 in the Cowie Hill Road area in Halifax. She is a student at Saint Mary's University, studying law, and had recently completed writing a thesis about murdered and missing women.

Saunders, who is three months pregnant, is described as an Inuk woman, 5’7”, 120 lbs with light brown straight hair. Her car is a Toyota Celica bearing Newfoudland and Labrador plate HCP 543.

Essex County OPP arrested a 25-year-old man and a 28-year-old woman on charges of possession of a stolen vehicle, and for outstanding warrants. The two were arrested without incident, and are currently in police custody.
