Greater Essex County District School Board Trustee Lisa Gretzky declared her candidacy for the NDP nomination in the Windsor West riding for the next provincial election Tuesday.
The second-term trustee and mother of two currently represents wards 3, 4, and 10 was elected vice-chair of the Board of Trustees in December. In addition to her School Board duties, she runs a home wedding and special events planning business.
She cited a number of issues which spurred her to throw her hat in the ring, including the flawed Herb Gray Parkway girders, the showdown between the Liberal government and the teachers’ unions last year, and the closure of the Windsor Raceway.
The NDP still has to choose date for its nomination meeting, where a member will be selected to run in the next provincial election. Names can be put up for nomination until two weeks prior that meeting.
