If you have been lucky enough to go on a Caribbean or tropical vacation, perhaps you’ve experienced the thrill of zip-lining through the canopy or hiking in a beautiful forest.
The great news is that you don’t have to venture farther than your own backyard to have an amazing eco-adventure, because there are many places in Ontario that offer great outdoor adventure opportunities.
Long Point Eco-Adventures is a 37-acre preserve that offers six, 12 and 18 k scenic trails that loops through Southern Ontario’s largest Carolinian forests. They also offer zip-line, canopy, stargazing tours and beaches. And the best part is it’s only an hour-and-a-half away from the GTA.
About 30 minutes away in Oshawa, Ontario, is Treetop Eco Adventure Park where there’s great eco-fun to be had. Located in the Oak Ridges Moraine, it’s the areas only aerial tree top adventure park. The park offers different levels and courses that you are guided through by professionals to ensure ultimate fun and safety. They also offer zip-ling for ages 10 and up.
If you enjoy nature of a different kind, a must-see is the Scenic Caves Nature Adventures in Collingwood, Blue Mountains, Ontario. Walk along Ontario’s longest suspension footbridge, 25 metres above the valley with spectacular views of Georgian Bay. You can’t leave without exploring the mountains caves and trails throughout the mountain and discover the ice cave and its many mysteries. You can also enjoy zip-lining or the adventure playground.
