Fun runs and walks for the whole family

OurWindsor.Ca

Whether you want to do something fun and interesting outdoors with your family and friends, or you like to support a good cause, there are ways you can do both by participating in various walks hosted throughout Ontario.

Canadian Colour Blast is provincial-wide 5k run based on having fun and turning your body into a piece of art. Before the race, participants dance and sing and get blasted with some colour paint, and this continues throughout the race. It’s a guaranteed day of fun for all ages.

The Herbie Fund walk, held at the Toronto Zoo, raises money for the SickKids Foundation. The Herbie Fund brings kids from all over the world to SickKids for life-altering/saving surgeries. The route is through the zoo, so you can walk for a good cause while enjoying the animals.

The Terry Fox Run is another charity walk hosted throughout Ontario. Terry Fox, who died of cancer in 1981, became a Canadian hero after running his Marathon of Hope in 1979 to raise money for cancer awareness.

The CIBC Run for the Cure raises money for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation, and all monies raised goes towards breast cancer research and awareness. Participants and run, walk, sprint or stroll in a 1K or 5K.

If you love animals, try the SPCA’s Friends for Life Walk. This provincial-wide walk helps to raise funds to help support animals in need across Ontario. Grab your pooch and walk with others who care about Ontario’s homeless animals.

The Zombie Run is a series of events hosted in cities across the world. This is for those who love the “un-dead’ and zombies parade through the streets in their best zombie attire and have fun! The course is a 5K stretch. Start off with your health level of 3 flags. Finish the race with at least one flag and you have "survived". You can race as an individual or as a team.

There are so many ways to get outdoors, have fun and support worthy causes. Choose one today and give back to your community while having fun!
