Humane Society Pets of the Week waiting for forever homes

OurWindsor.Ca is proud to present a new weekly feature, highlighting just a few of the furry friends waiting for a forever home at the Windsor Humane Society.

First up is Gladys - a sweet, friendly Lab mix that loves people. She is affectionate and responds to a little food in helping to train her to do some basic commands. To keep her busy you will have to give her plenty of exercise. But cuddling is also on Gladys' favourite list. Gladys has not learned how to interact with cats and as a result the Humane Society is seeking a home without feline friends. Gladys is naturally playful, curious and trusting canine. She is looking for someone to take her for daily walks and engage with her on other playful activitites. Best part? After the fun is over, she’ll curl up in front of the fire with you in the evenings.

Next up is Sage - a stunning orange tabby. You won't believe your eyes when you see Sage. She is very friendly and sweet, but also independent, so don't expect this kitty to be at your side all day long. Sage will spend some time alone, then curl up next to you when she’s good and ready. Sage is a busy cat that always wants to know everything that is going on - out the window, in closets, in cupboards. - but never before taking in a full compliment of naps. Sage is also a big fan of kibbles, so plan accordingly if planning on inviting Sage to your dinner or lunch gathering.

From Sage to to Adar - a gorgeous Persian cat who came to the shelter as a stray. Adar is a nervous cat initially but will cautiously investigate the surrounding environment. Adar is a very curious kitty, and once comfortable, is the biggest sweetheart. A definite lap cat!  Adar is very gentle and will quietly meow and purr when content. Adar is also a real private investigator type of pet - always working undercover to keep and eye on your and your household. Adar sometimes vanishes into thin air while on “assignment.” If you need a cat who knows how to stay out of trouble and will always keep your secrets, Adar just might take your case.

Finally, there’s Onyx, a black and silver Domestic Rabbit. Onyx is about three years old and would love to become a part of your loving household. Come in and meet Onyx today and see if this bunny could be the right rabbit for you. Also included in Onyx’s adoption price is neutering - all for only $30. Please note, Onyx is currently being fostered at PetValu Essex—visit him there.

A reminder that the Windsor Essex County Humane Society is selling their 2013 calendars - but is running out. Calendars sell for $10 and feature photography from Angie Chauvin. Visit the shelter or Pet Valu to purchase yours. THE WECHS is also promoting their ‘Holiday Cheer All Year Raffle’ running until Christmas. Ticket buyers could win one of five LCBO gift cards. Tickets available at the shelter, three for $10.00.

The Windsor Essex County Humane Society is located at 1375 Provincial Road. For more information, visit or call 519-966-5751.
