Voices Against Poverty launches new website
August 16, 2011 – 1:45 pm
Since its formation in 2009, Voices Against Poverty has worked to create awareness of the experiences of individuals in low-income. The group works in collaboration with Pathway to Potential and other provincial advocacy groups to develop initiatives that will bring people out of poverty and engage the community in their efforts to reduce poverty.
Today, Voices Against Poverty launched its Remember the Day pre-election campaign and website. The goal of the campaign is to make poverty an issue in the provincial election. The campaign will use the personal experiences of individuals who have experienced poverty, expressed through audio interviews, and video shorts in order to break down myths and uncover the realities of living in poverty. Each Tuesday (until the election), new material will be posted on the website.
Organziers hope that “through the launch of the Remember the Day campaign we will generate increased support of our efforts to reduce poverty in Windsor Essex County.”
